Costa Mesa Termite Control Company

Your home is probably your biggest investment. Termites can pose a serious threat to that investment. Termites cause $5 billion dollars every year in the U.S. in damage and treatment costs. That’s more damage than all the earthquakes, fires, and hurricanes combined. A termite’s life is all about consuming cellulose and reproducing 24 hours a day seven days a week. Termites are quite useful in nature because they recycle dead trees and other plant life into compost that enriches the soil. They serve no purpose in your home and they can cost you tens of thousands of dollars in termite damage if they aren’t stopped in time.

Tanler Termite has been heling Costa Mesa residents with termites and other pests for over 10 years now. We can help you with all aspects of termite control, including the inspections, termite treatments and termite repairs.

Termites Found in Costa Mesa Homes and Businesses

Termites are located in many parts of the world and they are surprisingly common in Costa Mesa. Termites damage more than 600,000 homes each year. The two most common types of termites found in Costa Mesa are Drywood Termites and Subterranean Termites.

Drywood Termites

Drywood termites tend to be dark brown or reddish brown. Reproductive Drywoods have wings that extend longer than their bodies and the soldiers have large heads and mandibles. Drywood Termites spend their entire life inside wood so they can be difficult to locate until they start pushing out termite pellets. The only time that most people see Drywood Termites is when they swarm to start new colonies. Drywood Termite colonies can get as large as 100,000 members.

Subterranean Termites

Subterranean Termites tend to be smaller than Drywood Termites and the reproductive swarmers are usually black. What the Subterranean. Subterranean termite colonies can have as many as 1 million members and they cause more damage to structures than any other insect. They live mostly underground and they create mud tubes to remain hidden and protected as they work to gain access to the wood in homes and other structures.
